The Mariinsky Theatre Wind Quintet
The ensemble was founded in 1998 when the members were still students in the wind music faculty of the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. The quintet has taken part in international master classes and chamber music academies. In 2001 it won a prize at the prestigious ARD International Competition in Munich (at that time the ensemble was called the St Petersburg Wind Quintet). In 2002 the musicians recorded a CD featuring works by Mozart, Taffanel, Ligeti and Hindemith. The ensemble has performed in Russia, Finland, Germany and Belgium.
In its current form as the Mariinsky Theatre Wind Quintet, the ensemble made its debut at the Eilat Classical Music Festival (Israel) in 2008.
