The season at the Teatro Region in Turin traditionally opens with an opera, but this year the honour is being presented to the Mariinsky Ballet Company, which will be performing classical choreography by Marius Petipa and ballets by Michel Fokine. During the tour there will be five performances of Ludwig Minkus’ La Bayadère and twelve performances of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. The programme of the evenings entitled A Tribute to Fokine will consist of the ballets Polovtsian Dances, Le Spectre de la rose, The Swan and Schéhérazade. The lead roles will be performed by stars of the Mariinsky Ballet Company including Ulyana Lopatkina, Viktoria Tereshkina, Alina Somova, Yekaterina Kondaurova, Yevgeny Ivanchenko, Igor Kolb, Danila Korsuntsev and Vladimir Shklyarov. The performances will feature the Chorus and Symphony Orchestra of the Teatro Regio. The Musical Director of the Teatro Regio is Gianandrea Noseda, who has a long history of collaboration with the Mariinsky Theatre as a guest conductor. |
