A Man Lives as the Green Grass Grows… (religious songs)

These chants have come down to us from ancient times. In them, various cultural features are miraculously blended together: the naïve love of paganism, the spirituality of Christianity and the wisdom of simple village people.
The programme is dedicated to one of the most interesting pages in folk music – the ecclesiastical songs of the Old Believers and spiritual Christians (the Dukhobors and Molokans). This music has no composers, and the names of the performers and the listeners have all blended together to form one. But those who wrote and have performed these works were musicians and poets in the loftiest sense of the words. The unusual poetry of these spiritual poems and psalms is reflected in contemporary musical culture.
The music that is being performed at the concert is addressed to listeners who can go beyond the confines of established performing stereotypes and who are ready to accept unusual sounds and subtle meanings.
