A debut on the stage and on TV

On 13 October Mariinsky Theatre soloist Andrei Yermakov will be making his debut as the Torero in the ballet Carmen-Suite. Andrei Yermakov’s repertoire now includes a new and interesting role – in the ballet Carmen-Suite (music by Georges Bizet – Rodion Shchedrin, choreography by Alberto Alonso) he will be performing as the Torero. In addition to his artistic successes at his home theatre, Andrei Yermakov can now expect to scale new heights, this time on television: the dancer is taking part in  Russia K television channel’s project Grand Ballet, where he will be competing for the Grand Prix and the title of “Best Male Dancer.”

Grand Ballet is an unprecedented project by the TV channel Russia K and will prove a highlight of the new television year. This is the first ever Russian television ballet competition for young dancers featuring duos from six Russian theatres.
Andrei will be partnered in the TV competition by Mariinsky Theatre prima ballerina Viktoria Teryoshkina, who will be appearing though not competing in the project as a special guest.
Starting on Sundays from 21 October, viewers will be able to take part in SMS voting to root for Andrei during the evening broadcast on Russia K television.
