![]() Scene from the ballet The Firebird | In her eleven years at the Mariinsky Theatre, Viktoria Tereshkina has danced numerous solo roles. The ballerina performed choreography by Michel Fokine in August 2011 during an anniversary tour to London when she made her debut as Zobeide in Schéhérazade, in which, she herself said, “you don’t have to do any pirouettes or stand en pointe – you just enjoy the performance which has both a plot and an image to convey. The dancer’s most recent debuts include the roles of Anna Karenina in Alexei Ratmansky’s eponymous ballet and Titania in the premiere performance of George Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
For young corps de ballet dancer Yulia Stepanova who joined the Mariinsky Ballet Company in 2009, the Firebird will be her first title role.
