On 1 November bass Yuri Vorobiev will be making his debut as Ramfis, the Egyptian High Priest, in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Aida (production by Alexei Stepanyuk, sets by Pyotr Schildknecht).
The Mariinsky Ballet Company is continuing its tour at the Teatro Regio in Turin. The first part of the tour came to a sensational conclusion with the “hypnotic Alina Somova” in Camille Saint-Saлns’ The Swan and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Schéhérazade with the “divine Ulyana Lopatkina” and the “manly Danila Korsuntsev.”
