About the Concert

Julia Lezhneva is world famous as a first-class performer of baroque music. Since 2011, Decca label has released 7 albums with her performing virtuoso pieces by Vivaldi, Handel, Porpora, Graun, Hasse, and Mozart. Lezhneva mainly prepares concert programmes, however, sometimes she also appears in opera productions. Among the parts she has played on opera stage are Zerlina and Fiordiligi in Mozart’s opera. It was no surprise that for the first joint performance with Mariinsky Orchestra – the academic orchestra, not the period instrument orchestra – they chose the music by Mozart. Mikhail Antonenko, Julia Lezhneva’s musical ally and unchanging accompanier with whom she tours all over the world, will be conducting the performance. Last year, with Antonenko as a conductor, Lezhneva recorded a Decca label CD.
