About the Concert

Participants of the concert programme dedicated to 145 years since the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff include professors, graduates, and students of the St Petersburg Conservatoire. Despite the fact that the composer’s works are mostly focused on piano and vocal music, the organisers of the International Week have also invited musicians playing other instruments to take part in it. Apart from the grand piano, which is a favourite with Rachmaninoff, the concert will also feature arrangements of his works for oboe, trumpet, cello, domra, ensemble of bayans, romantic songs for voice and piano, as well as Trio élégiaque No. 2. The Rachmaninoff programme is the Conservatoire’s tribute to the great composer, whose works are well-loved and respected all over the world.
