About the performers

The Russian-German Academy of Music was founded in 2012, as part of the culture cross year between two countries. It is a student orchestra consisting of young musicians from Moscow Conservatory and Universitat der Kunste of Berlin. Valery Gergiev has been the orchestra’s Artistic Director since September 2013.
The Academy activities include organising master classes of Russian and German musicians and performing rarely played 20th century pieces as well as comtemporary music (in 2015 the orchestra performed the world premiere of Con brio concert overture by Jorg Widmann).
The Academy has toured Moscow, Klin, Berlin, Bonn and other Russian and German cities, and participated in Stars of the White Nights festival in 2014 and 2015. This year the Academy presents its new project, a chamber orchestra conducted by Thomas Zehetmair (Austria), who will also appear as a soloist in the Violin Concerto in C major by Joseph Haydn.
