About the performers

The ensemble I Barocchisti is internationally acclaimed as a leading exponent of period instrument performance. Under the direction of Diego Fasolis, the ensemble has successfully recorded several concerts and productions. Furthermore, it has consistently worked with leading international soloists, including, among others, Philippe Jaroussky and Julia Lezhneva (Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Erato) as well as Maurice Steger (Vivaldi Concertos, Harmonia Mundi). In recent years, the ensemble has started an extraordinary collaboration with Cecilia Bartoli, resulting in the multimedia project Mission (Decca) and in the album St Petersburg (Decca). Together with the mezzo-soprano, I Barocchisti returned in 2015 to the Whitsun and Salzburg Festivals, performing Händel’s Semele and a major opera production, Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride. In 2016 the ensemble will be touring Europe with the new adaptation of Vincenzo Bellini’s Norma, featuring Bartoli in the leading role.
