The Musical Olympus international festival has been run on an annual basis since 1996 at the most prestigious venues in St Petersburg. Festival performers include the winners of recent major international music competitions. Over the years, Musical Olympus has introduced audiences to more than four hundred young musicians, among them Nikolaj Znaider, Ilya Gringolts, Sayaka Shoji, Eldar Nebolsin, Martin Fröst, Marina Poplavskaya, Darrell Ang, Vasily Petrenko, Enrico Dindo, Boris Giltburg, Tugan Sokhiev, Khatia Buniatishvili, Andrei Baranov, Sol Gabetta, Andris Nelsons and Mario Chang.
The task of the festival is to support talented young musicians at the outset of their artistic careers. With this aim in mind, each year the festival runs annual presentation concerts of festival participants in New York (Carnegie Hall), Berlin (Philharmonie), Zurich (Tonhalle), Singapore (Esplanade), Rennes and Baku.
The festival is supported by the World Federation of International Music Competitions and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation with the assistance of the Culture Committee of the St Petersburg City Government.
