Evening of Organ Music
Marchand. Bach. Dandrieu

Concert from the series Four centuries of organ music

Louis Marchand. L’oeuvre pour orgue. Livre I
Johann Sebastian Bach. Mass for Organ.
Jean Franзois Dandrieu. Les Pièces

Bach’s music forms the basis of the organ repertoire – Kinyaev performs more authentically than any other Russian organist. And maybe more so than merely any Russian organist. His touch is maliciously and exceedingly distinct, his rhythm whimsical yet at the same time natural, like breathing. And the breathing is inherently that of a man in absolute resonance with the music being played. So you have to go and see Kinyaev regardless of the air temperature: an enjoyable pleasure is guaranteed, not just in an emotional sense, which can be got almost always from a loud and powerful organ, but also in an intellectual sense, form the music per se – and that is something that happens altogether less frequently.
Lifestyle

… Unlike the normal organ sound of European churches, at the Mariinsky hall the sound doesn’t mix and reverberate under vaulted ceilings, retaining its purity and clarity with each and every tone.

This is an instrument that will last a century at least. Engineers have appraised the construction and the delicate electronic innards, while music lovers have appraised the pure, gentle sound and universal coverage. And children in the audience have tugged at their parents’ sleeves and whispered “It’s so beautiful!”
