The opera playbill of the festival programme has seen the addition of Eugene Onegin featuring Ferruccio Furlanetto as Gremin, Rossini's rarely-performed opera Il viaggio a Reims and a performance of the new production of The Maid of Orleans, which will bring the 2021 Stars of the White Nights festival to a close.
A whole series of key events has been added to the ballet playbill for the Stars of the White Nights. At the Mariinsky II there will be a celebration marking the Year of Stravinsky with a premiere of productions of Mavra, Renard and Le Baiser de la fée; the choreographer and stage director is Maxim Petrov, recipient of the Golden Mask award. Audiences may look forward to galas featuring Viktoria Tereshkina, Yekaterina Kondaurova and Kimin Kim. At a gala concert dedicated to the anniversary of the outstanding coach Lyudmila Kovaleva there will be appearances by Diana Vishneva, and Kristina Shapran as well as Maria Khoreva, Daria Ionova and Anastasia Nuikina. Once more this season, the Mariinsky Theatre will be presenting Alexei Ratmansky's ballets Pierrot Lunaire, Seven Sonatas and Concerto DSCH.⠀
In addition to his already-announced performance together with Valery Gergiev, Daniil Trifonov will be presenting a recital, the programme of which is to comprise works by von Weber, Szymanowski, Debussy and Brahms. This coming Thursday at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan will present the programme Not Bach Alone, which will combine suites by Bach with sonatas by George Crum, Adam Khudoyan and György Ligeti.
