The Atkins Program, founded in 2015 by Valery Gergiev and V. Atkins Foundation, works under Maestro’s artistic leadership. The fellowship program aims to support talented young performers at the outset of their artistic careers, when they start wining the admiration of the public at large. At the Mariinsky Theatre, fellowship grant-recipients develop their vocal and stage skills under the tutelage of some of opera’s leading specialists, and they take part in performances and concerts, sing lead roles in the repertoire and tour with the company. This training serves as a trampoline for their stage careers. The current list of fellowship grant-recipients and graduates includes Alexander Mikhailov, Yevgeny Akhmedov, Dmitry Grigoriev, Gamid Abdulov, Vladislav Kupriyanov, Ekaterina Sannikova, Aigul Khismatullina and Anastasia Schegoleva.
