New events: 15 – 20 December

The theatre's website has published its additional repertoire for December. Eugene Onegin staged by Yuri Temirkanov, Don Giovanni, Macbeth, Khovanshchina and Samson et Dalila will feature in the opera playbill for the second half of December along with a new production of Cavalleria rusticana.

Fans of world choreography can look forward to Balanchine's eagerly anticipated Jewels as well as Vainonen's The Nutcracker, Gorsky's Don Quixote, Zakharov's The Fountain of Bakhchisarai and an evening of ballets to music by Stravinsky.

The Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre will be hosting a performance of melodies of Viennese balls with the Stradivarius Ensemble under the baton of Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici and opera soloists Ekaterina Sannikova, Alexander Mikhailov and Gamid Abdulov. The playbill also includes a concert performance of Rodion Shchedrin's opera Boyarina Morozova, the programme The Light of the Mediterranean which is being rehearsed by the Mariinsky Orchestra, conductor Christian Knapp and soloists Sofia Viland (flute) and Anna Kiknadze (mezzo-soprano) and the evening From Bach to Piazzolla with maestro Nasturica-Herschcowici (violin ) and Sofia Kiprskaya (Harp).
