Kimin Kim has been named a “Star”

Mariinsky Ballet Principal Dancer Kimin Kim has been awarded the Spirit of Dance prize in the category “Star”.

The Spirit of Dance prize, founded by Russia’s Ballet magazine, is awarded on an annual basis by the editorial board to dancers who have made significant contributions to dance in Russia. This year the category of “Star” was awarded to young Mariinsky Ballet Principal Dancer Kimin Kim for his successes. The past year has been an intense one in the dancer’s career: he has worked on four new roles – Ferkhad in The Legend of Love, the main characters in Fokine’s Schéhérazade and Le Spectre de la rose and Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux. Moreover, Kimin made his debut at American Ballet Theatre as Solor in La Bayadère. He also made it this year to the top ranks of the Mariinsky Ballet, the youngest principal ever to do so.
5 November will see another debut by Kimin – he will be appearing for the first time in “Paquita” Grand Pas.
