Tonight Maya Mikhailovna Plisetskaya and her husband Rodion Konstantinovich Shchedrin will be attending the opera The Lefthander which the composer wrote for the opening of the new stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. Along with millions of fans, the Mariinsky Theatre would like to wish Happy Birthday to Maya Mikhailovna – an amazingly radiant and warm-hearted person and an utterly outstanding ballerina! The Mariinsky Theatre has been bound to Maya Plisetskaya for many years by a shared friendship and fruitful collaboration. We admire her inexhaustible energy, professionalism and charm. Her unique interpretations of the roles of Odette-Odile, Aurora, Mekhmeneh Bahnu and Carmen now form part of Russia – and the world’s – treasure trove of culture.
