The international press has stated that Vladimir Shklyarov is “a performer of noble bearing, classically flawless and elegant.” Having danced all of the theatre’s principal dancer roles, he will now be appearing in a new character role in Konstantin Boyarsky’s choreography. The ballet was first staged in 1962 at the Maly Opera and Ballet Theatre in Leningrad. The libretto was written by the renowned director Alexander Belinsky after motifs from the eponymous film scenario by Vladimir Mayakovsky. The music score is structured on the principle of collage: the choreographer took music from three of Shostakovich’s ballets – The Bolt, The Golden Age and The Limpid Brook. The musical fabric of the ballet also features extracts from Shostakovich’s compositions for films. The same evening, Alexei Kuzmin will be performing the role of the Leader in the ballet The Young Lady and the Hooligan for the first time. Ivan Sitnikov will be making his debut as the Сorregidor in the ballet Carmen-Suite.
