![]() | A nominee for Ballet magazine’s prize in the category “Rising Star” for 2012, Timur Askerov demonstrates “a fine figure, good co-ordination and soft leaps.” The dancer’s career at the Mariinsky Theatre really began to take flight with two major roles in full-length classical ballets. Since joining the company last year, he first appeared as Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake and then as Count Albrecht in Giselle. This season the dancer performed two dazzling character roles – those of José in Alberto Alonso’s Carmen and Ferkhad in Yuri Grigorovich’s The Legend of Love. His repertoire also includes George Balanchine’s ballets Ballet Imperial (Piano Concerto No 2) and the Mariinsky Theatre’s first production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in which he performed the role of Oberon.
The role of Solor marks Askerov’s second debut at the anniversary Stars of the White Nights festival. |
