A debut in the ballet Don Quixote

On 8 February Kim Kimin will be making his debut as Basilio.

Young South Korean dancer and prize-winner at international ballet competitions Kim Kimin is making his second appearance as a trainee at the Mariinsky Theatre. This promising dancer made his first appearance as Ali in Marius Petipa’s ballet Le Corsaire (revised version by Pyotr Gusev) on 6 January. The dancer has demonstrated impeccable precision of movement and plastique, grace and ease in his leaps, achieving the effect of soaring in the air as well as proving himself as a reliable partner.

His appearance as Basilio in Don Quixote (production by Alexander Gorsky after motifs from Marius Petipa’s choreography) marks Kim Kimin’s latest debut in a lead role at the Mariinsky Theatre. Valeria Martynyuk will be performing the role of his beloved Kitri, the daughter of the inn owner.
