Maxim Zyuzin’s Romeo

On 4 November Maxim Zyuzin will be performing the title role in Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet with choreography by Leonid Lavrovsky for the first time; the role of Juliet will be performed by Evgenia Obraztsova.

“With the image and manner of a true ballet Prince,” Maxim Zyuzin made a name for himself with the role of the Nutcracker Prince in Mihail Chemiakin’s The Nutcracker and as Alexander the poet in Kirill Simonov’s ballet Glass Heart, thus establishing his “right to a repertoire of solo roles.” The dancer’s repertoire now includes such principal roles as Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Count Albrecht in Giselle and Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty. Last season he appeared in the Russian premiere of Benjamin Millepied’s ballet Without.

Zyuzin first appeared in a ballet by Leonid Lavrovsky in 2002 when he performed the role of the Satyr in Walpurgisnacht. He has also performed as a Troubadour in Romeo and Juliet.
