Grigory Chernetsov was born in Yakutsk in 1989. Graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Yury Marusin) in 2011.

During 2011–2024 he was a soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers. Made his Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2012, appearing in Don Carlo. Since 2024 Grigory Chernetsov has been a soloist with the Mariinsky Opera Company.
