Born in Leningrad in 1954.
Graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography.
He has worked on over two hundred productions in St Petersburg, Moscow, other Russian cities, Georgia, cities in the Baltic States (Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn), Switzerland (Zurich and Basel, 1993, 1995), Great Britain (Manchester, 1994), Bulgaria (Sofia, 1990, 1993), Germany (Hamburg, 1999), Finland (Helsinki, 1998), South Korea (Seoul, 2003), the USA (Miami, 2005) and China (Shanghai, 2005).
Has taken part in numerous international theatre projects and festivals in France (Avignon, 1992, 1994), Germany (Berlin, 1992), Great Britain (Manchester, 1994), South Korea (Seoul, 2003). Germany (Stuttgart, 2004) and France (Nice, 2004) among others.
Recipient of prestigious theatre prizes including the 1999 Golden Mask and the 1997 and 2006 Golden Sofit as best production designer. For many ears he has organised his own independent exhibitions in Russia and throughout Europe.
