Georgy Albegov


Conductor

Georgy Albegov began his musical journey at the age of six, studying piano at a music school and later learning violin, oboe and trumpet. At the age of fifteen he made his debut appearing with a symphony orchestra. In 2014 Georgy graduated from the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music (choral conducting class of Fedor Lednev, symphonic conducting class of Sabrie Bekirova), in 2019 – from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (with distinction; class of Vladimir Altschuler), and subsequently he completed an assistant traineeship at the conservatory (under the tutelage of the same teacher).

His debut as an opera conductor came in 2016 with the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the St Petersburg Conservatory in a production of Eugene Onegin. That same year he participated in a concert celebrating Veronika Dudarova’s centenary with the Mariinsky Orchestra at the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, an event initiated by Valery Gergiev. Was a diploma recipient at the 2019 Nurgisa Tlendiev International Conducting Competition in Nur-Sultan (today Astana). In 2020 Albegov served as a guest conductor for the competitive performance of Riccardo Drigo’s The Talisman ballet in Moscow, as part of the Golden Mask festival.

From 2020 to 2022 he held the position of Principal Conductor at the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Since 2022 he has been regularly appearing at the Mariinsky Theatre, conducting the operas Pagliacci, Don Pasquale, La traviata, Rigoletto and Die Zauberflöte.

Albegov has collaborated with the Algirdas Paulavičius Youth Symphony Orchestra (St Petersburg), performed at the Teatro Mancinelli (Orvieto, Italy), the New Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, the Moscow Musical Theatre Helikon-Opera, the Grand and Small halls of the St Petersburg Philharmonia, the State Academic Philharmonic of the Nur-Sultan City Akimat and other venues.

His repertoire includes such operatic productions as Prince Igor, Iolanta, Un ballo in maschera, Cavalleria rusticana and Così fan tutte to name but a few.
