Gentle Memories for Yekaterina Kondaurova

The Russian premiere of Jiří Bubeníček’s ballet Gentle Memories, created for Mariinsky Theatre prima ballerina Yekaterina Kondaurova, will take place on 27 September as part of an evening of dance at the Concert Hall.

On 27 September as part of an evening programme including the one-act ballets Carmen Suite, The Young Lady and the Hooligan and a divertissement of miniatures and pas de deux there will be a performance of the Dresden Semperoper Ballet Company’s principal dancer and choreographer Jiří Bubeníček’s ballet Gentle Memories featuring Yekaterina Kondaurova, Islom Baimuradov, Alexander Sergeyev and Anton Pimonov.

The ballet’s premiere took place on 27 April in New York at the Lincoln Center. Jiří Bubeníček created the piece for the annual Youth America Grand Prix gala which had the motto of Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow. The choreographer initially proposed staging a short duet for Yekaterina Kondaurova and Islom Baimuradov, but the music proffered by the composer Karen LeFrak inspired him to create a more expansive work for four dancers and solo pianist. In New York the Mariinsky Theatre partners were joined by Hamburg Ballett Principal Dancer Otto Bubeníček and Dresden Semperoper Ballet Company soloist Jon Vallejo.

Moreover, the programme for the evening includes Carmen Suite with Oxana Skorik, Timur Askerov and Yevgeny Ivanchenko in the lead roles and The Young Lady and the Hooligan with Elena Yevseyeva and Ilya Kuznetsov.
