On 6 December at 19:00 the administrative center of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the city of Salekhard, will host a concert featuring the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev, with soloist Denis Matsuev. The event will take place at the Salekhard Cultural and Business Center.
Salekhard is renowned for its unique location as the only city in the world situated at the latitude of the Arctic Circle. However, the upcoming concert is not the first for the Mariinsky Orchestra and Valery Gergiev in this region. The acclaimed ensemble and maestro have been regular performers there since 2021.
The evening's program includes both Russian and international compositions. Audiences will be treated to Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol, Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 featuring Denis Matsuev as the soloist, along with other musical surprises.
