Today marks the birthday of Anna Netrebko, People’s Artist of Russia, star of world opera, prima donna, diva and pride of the Mariinsky Theatre. the singer is celebrating her birthday amid great pomp at the Kremlin Palace. For her home company at the Mariinsky Theatre and St Petersburg audiences she has conceived a special evening: here the performer promises to appear with her beloved Maestro Gergiev and sing her favourite arias. Today, in the foyer of the new theatre, there opens an exhibition of photographs and costumes from productions in which Anna has appeared since 1994, when she made her first appearance at the Mariinsky Theatre as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. We would like to invite all lovers of opera to Anna Netrebko’s celebratory evening, to be held at the Mariinsky-II on 1 October.
