Tickets are now on sale for Giacomo Puccini's opera Tosca on 21 May, the title role to be performed by soprano Anna Netrebko. Tenor Yusif Eyvazov will be appearing on-stage as her beloved, Mario Cavaradossi.
Anna Netrebko made her debut in the role of Floria Tosca in 2018 at the Metropolitan Opera, subsequently singing it at La Scala, the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and the Wiener Staatsoper. Mariinsky Theatre audiences first heard Netrebko's Tosca in February this year.
The production by Paul Curran and Paul Edwards has been performed at the New Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre since 2007. The plot of the opera unfolds in Rome in the grip of a despotic power, albeit no longer in the times of Napoleon's victorious campaigns in Europe but rather in the 1930s.
The complete cast list remains to be announced. Tickets for this performance are to be name-specific and may be purchased exclusively at the Mariinsky Theatre's box-offices and on the theatre's website.
