On 18 June mariinsky.tv will be screening a documentary online for the first time. Anna Matison's film Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre, produced in 2013, is dedicated to the Mariinsky Theatre in modern times. Highlights from productions loved by the public and backstage scenes, the legacy of outstanding composers and performers and stories linking the past and the future of the Mariinsky Theatre are all enhanced by the narrative of Valery Gergiev, the theatre's Artistic and General Director. Among those featuring in the film are Anna Netrebko, Diana Vishneva, Denis Matsuev, Thierry Escaich and Rodion Shchedrin to name but a few.
The online broadcast begins at 19.00 Moscow Time on mariinsky.tv and via the social networking sites VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and Facebook as well as on the Mariinsky Theatre's YouTube channel. The film will be available to view for twenty-four hours after the start of the broadcast.
