New events: 11 – 15 November

The website of the Mariinsky Theatre has announced its additional repertoire to mid-November.
The opera playbill features Don Giovanni and Carmen as well as La fanciulla del West, Macbeth and Un ballo in Maschera which have not been performed at the theatre for a long time. There will also be a concert performance of Léon Delibes' rarely performed Lakmé under the baton of Christian Knapp.

Ballets to be performed include Vasily Vainonen's version of The Nutcracker staged by Mikhail Chemiakin, The Fountain of Bakhchisarai and a series of performances of Giselle.

For the performances at the Concert Hall, Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici and the musicians of the Mariinsky Orchestra have been rehearsing two new chamber music programmes of works by Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Barber, Respighi, Stravinsky and Mozart. The eagerly-awaited jazz evening with Vladimir Volkov (double bass) and Andrei Kondakov (piano) will feature classics and original opuses by the performers.
