At 19.00 on 26 October the Mariinsky-II will be hosting a concert in memory of Dmitri Hvorostovsky, an exemplary baritone, the darling of Russian audiences and much sought-after soloist at the world's leading opera houses. In memory of their friend and colleague, world opera stars Hibla Gerzmava, Ekaterina Semenchuk and Ildar Abdrazakov will be performing. One surprise comes with Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov's participation in the concert. These singers will be performing solo arias and duets from Russian and European classical operas, while the evening will conclude with a dazzling tutti featuring all of the concert's participants.
These are also to include those representing the next generation: soprano Aigul Khismatullina, who proved a veritable revelation at the Francisco Viñas Competition and the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019, and baritone Vladislav Kupriyanov, who at that competition was presented with the specially-established Hvorostovsky Prize.
The conductor's stand on the memorial evening will be taken by maestro Valery Gergiev who enjoyed a warm artistic relationship with the singer.
The concert has been organised in conjunction with the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Arts Support and Development Foundation.
