Due to the current temporary ban on hosting mass events, the Mariinsky Theatre has been forced to postpone the XXVIII Stars of the White Nights Music Festival.
It is already impossible to imagine the cultural life of St Petersburg without the festival, which was founded in 1993, and so the theatre's board is doing everything possible to reschedule the forum to new dates.
The playbill for the festival, which this year was due to run from 17 May to 26 July, listed many stellar names and vivid productions, and the theatre will be attempting to retain most of the events that were planned.
