Fellows of the Atkins Young Artists Program will perform at the Small Hall of the Zaryadye Concert Hall on 20 April, including the young talented singers Ekaterina Sannikova (soprano), Angelina Akhmedova (soprano), and Gamid Abdulov (baritone). The programme includes Georgy Svidirov’s Russia Cast Adrift, Gustav Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, and Claude Debussy’s Ariettes oubliées.
The Atkins Young Artists Program is an international educational project, established in 2015. The program's goal is to support young opera singers who have already gained public recognition at the start of their professional career. The program fellows selected by an expert jury have a unique opportunity to perfect their skills under the direction of eminent teachers of the Mariinsky Theatre, the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera Theatre in Covent Garden, the San Francisco Opera, and the Teatro Regio (Turin). Since the establishment of the Program its fellows have regularly taken part in various projects and festivals of the Mariinsky Theatre, including the Moscow Easter Festival, the Stars of the White Nights festival, the International Mariinsky Far East Festival, the International Caucasus Festival The Mariinsky – Vladikavkaz, as well as in tours of the Mariinsky Theatre. International projects of the recent seasons include tours in the United States, Mexico, and Chile, as well as a performance at the opening of the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Saudi Arabia with the Mariinsky Orchestra. Moreover, the singers have actively taken part in the theatre’s premieres and in more than thirty repertoire productions, including Falstaff, The Tsar’s Bride, Lucia di Lammermoor, Eugene Onegin, Don Giovanni, Le Rossignol, The Idiot, La traviata, L'elisir d'amore, Benvenuto Cellini, Simon Boccanegra, Otello and others.
