From 6 October to 9 October, the Vienna Philharmonic will perform three times under the baton of Valery Gergiev at the Wiener Musikverein (6 October, 15.30 and 7 October, 11.00) and at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris (9 October, 20.00). All concerts will feature Denis Matsuev as a guest performer. The programme of the performance will include works by Sergei Prokofiev. The three monographic concerts will see performances of excerpts from the ballet Romeo and Juliet, Symphony No. 6, and Piano Concerto No. 2.
Valery Gergiev has actively collaborated with the Vienna Philharmonic. Their most recent collaborations include a major concert tour in Europe, the USA, and South America in 2016. Moreover, in May 2018, Maestro Gergiev and Anna Netrebko performed with the Vienna Philharmonic at the traditional open-air event with free admission Summer Night Concert, held at the Schönbrunn Palace park in Vienna.
