The Mariinsky Theatre to Perform on Tour at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden Summer Festival

The Mariinsky Theatre ensemble and Valery Gergiev will perform at the traditional summer festival of the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden (Germany) from 20 July to 23 July, while the festival itself runs from 7 July to 23 July. The busy programme, which includes symphony music concerts and performances with the participation of the leading soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre under the baton of Valery Gergiev, will close the music forum held at one of the largest concert and theatre venues in Europe. Maestro Gergiev will travel to Baden-Baden from Switzerland, where on 19 July he will perform at the opening of the 2018 Verbier Festival.

On 20 July and 23 July, the Mariinsky Theatre will show its 2016/2017 season premiere, the opera Adriana Lecouvreur staged by Isabelle Partiot-Pieri. The lead roles will be performed by Tatiana Serjan (Adriana Lecouvreur), Ekaterina Semenchuk (Princess de Bouillon), Migran Agadzhanian (Maurice de Saxe), Alexei Markov (Michonnet), Dmitry Grigoriev (Prince de Bouillon), and Alexander Mikhailov (the Abbé de Chazeuil). Both soirée performances will be conducted by Valery Gergiev.

On 21 July and 22 July, Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra will perform with one of the most popular pianists of his generation – Daniil Trifonov (who also won a Grammy award in 2018). On 21 July, they will perform Alexander Scriabin’s Piano Concerto as well as Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 2. On 22 July, an evening of Russian music will close the concert programme of the Festspielhaus for the 2017/2018 season. To be performed are Alexander Scriabin’s Symphony No. 3 and The Poem of Ecstasy, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
