Lucas Debargue to present a Russian premiere of his own composition at the Stars of the White Nights festival

On 3 June, 21.00, Lucas Debargue, a French pianist, the laureate of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition, will present a Russian premiere of his own composition on the stage of the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre. Quatuor symphonique will be performed by the musicians that three months ago played the world premiere at the Salle Cortot: Eva Zavaro (violin), Adrien Boisseau (viola), Jérôme Pernoo (cello) and the composer himself. The piece got its name due to the size of the composition: the ‘symphonic poem’ lasts for nearly an hour. The programme also includes Piano Quartet No. 1 by Gabriel Fauré and Gaspard de la nuit by Maurice Ravel.

Lucas Debargue’s compositions have already been performed in Moscow, where he played his Sonata for cello, at the Echo Klassik Gala Concert at the Elbphilharmonie where he was praised as the winner in the Young Musician nomination, and at halls in Paris, where the premieres of his Piano Trio and Quatuor symphonique took place.

The musicians that will be taking part in the concert Lucas Debargue and friends are graduates of the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris. Eva Zavaro is the recipient of the Georges Enesco prize of the French Composers Society. She is currently studying at the Munich Hochschule für Musik und Theater. She tours to the United States, France, and China. Adrien Boisseau won the Young Artist of the Year from the ICMA association (2014). In 2015, he joined the Quatuor Ebène, in collaboration with which he performed in New York, Paris, London, and Amsterdam. Jérôme Pernoo is the founder and artistic director of the festival Les vacances de Monsieur Haydn in La Roche Posay. He has performed with different French orchestras, the Deutsches-Symfonie Orchester Berlin, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Bavarian State Orchestra and many others.

Lucas Debargue will also perform at the XXVI Music Festival Stars of the White Nights on 6 June. He will play the Piano Concerto No.1 by Frédéric Chopin to the accompaniment of the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev.
