Zaurbek Gugkaev has been awarded the title of Honoured Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania

On 25 September Zaurbek Gugkaev was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The grand ceremony took place at the National State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania prior to a concert performance of Kirill Molchanov's opera The Dawns Here Are Quiet as part of the I International Caucasus Festival The Mariinsky – Vladikavkaz.

Zaurbek Gugkaev is a Mariinsky Theatre conductor. His repertoire includes classical European operas (Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte and Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia) and the Russian repertoire (Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Rimsky-Korsakov's The Golden Cockerel). He conducted one of the first performances of Mieczyslaw Weinberg's The Idiot, as well as the premiere of Leonid Klinichev's opera The Cossacks and the world premiere of Boris Grabovsky's opera Woe from Wit. Zaurbek Gugkaev actively collaborates with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers.
