Valery Gergiev's Tour with the Munich Philharmonic and the Orchestre national de France

Valery Gergiev is scheduled to give several performances with the Munich Philharmonic and the Orchestre national de France from July 13 to July 16.

On July 13, Valery Gergiev and the Munich Philharmonic are set to perform at the Rheingau Musik Festival, the 30th annual international music forum. The Friedrich von Thiersch Hall in Wiesbaden will see the performance of Сarl Maria Von Weber’s opera Oberon overture, Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. The solo part will be performed by a young Canadian pianist of Polish descent Jan Lisiecki. July 16 will see an open-air concert at the Odeonsplatz, which would mark the last performance of the Munich Philharmonic in the 2016/2017 season. The German musicians are to perform Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 featuring a solo performance by the famous Chinese pianist Yuja Wang.

On July 14, the Bastille Day, Valery Gergiev is set to conduct the Orchestre national de France at an annual concert which marks the end of the season for the ensemble. The free concert will take place at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and will be broadcast live by France Inter and TV channel France 2. The diverse performance programme includes the works of Hector Berlioz, Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi, Sergei Prokofiev, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Charles Gounod, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Johannes Brahms, Dmitri Shostakovich, Richard Strauss, Modest Mussorgsky, Georges Bizet, and Léo Delibes. Diana Damrau (soprano), Nadine Sierra (soprano), Anita Rachvelishvili (mezzo-soprano), Bryan Hymel (tenor), Ludovic Tézier (baritone), Renaud Capuçon (violin), and Gautier Capuçon (cello), as well as the Maîtrise de Radio France and Chœur de Radio France, will take part in the performance.
