Mariinsky label has issued the recording of Rimsky Korsakov’s Golden Cockerel staged by Anna Matison on DVD and Blu-ray.
The opera was recorded at Mariinsky II during its premiere performances in December 2014. The leading parts were performed by Vladimir Feliauer (Tsar Dodon), Andrei Iliushnikov (Tsarevich Gvidon), Vladislav Sulimsky (Tsarevich Afron), Andrei Popov (Astrologer), and Aida Garifullina (Queen of Shemakha). It was conducted by Valery Gergiev.

This release continues the series of video recordings of Russian operas issued by the Mariinsky label. The latest ones include The Left-Hander by Rodion Shchedrin and Semyon Kotko by Sergei Prokofiev (also on DVD and Blu-ray).
