The Atkins Young Artists Program is an international Mariinsky Theatre-based educational project. The project now accepts applications from professional vocalists between 18 and 32 years of age.

The program fellows will have a unique opportunity to perfect their vocal and performing skills under the direction of eminent teachers and concertmasters, to study abroad, to give solo concerts in Russia and beyond, to work with theatre administrators, managers, PR agencies, to collaborate with the leading opera companies, and to take part in the Mariinsky Theatre productions.

The applications are open through May 31 (inclusive). You can find the detailed information about eligibility requirements and the application form at the link below: http://www.atkinsyoungartists.org/apply.html

The public performance audition will take place at the Mariinsky Theatre on June 26 (specific time and details will be announced at a later date). The future fellows will be selected by an expert jury, which includes the artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre Valery Gergiev, the founder of the program Veronica Atkins, and Sarah Billinghurst Solomon, an opera house administrator, artist manager, and formerly the assistant general manager for artistic affairs at the Metropolitan Opera House.

The candidates selected via online pre-screening will get an opportunity to come to Saint Petersburg and take part in training sessions with the members of Artistic Advisory Board, concertmasters, language coaches, and directors over several days before the final public audition. Travel arrangements and accommodations for the finalists are provided by the Atkins Young Artists Program.

The Atkins Young Artists Program is an international educational project, established in 2015 under the patronage of Valery Gergiev. The program's goal is to support young opera singers at the start of their professional career. In August 2016, the fellows of the program took an Italian language course at the University of Siena in Italy.
In September 2016, they participated in a series of master classes and training sessions with the teaching staff of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York (the United States).

Since the foundation of the program its fellows have taken part in the Mariinsky Theatre projects. Open master classes taught by the famous concertmaster and trainer Craig Rutenberg with the participation of Yevgeny Akhmedov, Alexander Mikhailov, and Dmitry Grigoriev took place during the XXIV International Stars of the White Nights Music Festival at the chamber venues of the Mariinsky II in the summer of 2016. The vocalists then took part in the closing concert at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre. In November 2016, each of the fellows presented his solo program at the chamber venues of the Mariinsky II.

Moreover Atkins fellows  regularly take part in the repertoire productions and participate in the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre projects (e.g. the I International Mariinsky Far East Festival in Vladivostok). Dmitry Grigoriev debuted on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in February 2016 with the assistance of the Atkins Young Artists Program teaching staff.

The fellows also actively performed at the XVI Moscow Easter Festival,  with the Youth Symphony Orchestra and Esperanza Azteca Choir in Mexico, on tour with the Mariinsky Theatre in the Asia-Pacific Region and with the Mariinsky Orchestra in South America.

The project is graciously sponsored by Veronica Atkins (the United States).
