A tour by the Mariinsky Theatre to Uzbekistan

On 13 and 14 April on the eve of the XVI Moscow Easter Festival, the Mariinsky Theatre under Valery Gergiev will be appearing in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

On 13 April a concert will take place at the "Uzbekistan" Palace of International Forums. Young Uzbek virtuoso pianist Behzod Abduraimov and the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev will perform Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No 3. For the Mariinsky Theatre's musicians this will be their first performance in the capital of Uzbekistan.

On 14 April at the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theatre there will be a ballet programme. The evening will open with the one-act ballet Carmen-Suite by Georges Bizet – Rodion Shchedrin, the lead role to be performed by Mariinsky Theatre prima ballerina Diana Vishneva. The second part of the evening will include scenes and choreographic highlights from the ballets Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Anna Karenina and Schéhérazade. The divertissement will feature Nadezhda Batoeva, Elena Yevseyeva, Yekaterina Chebykina, Renata Shakirova, Konstantin Zverev, Igor Kolb, Danila Korsuntsev, Ernest Latypov, Alexander Romanchikov and Alexander Sergeyev. The Mariinsky Orchestra will be conducted by Valery Gergiev.
