On 25 March Valery Gergiev became a laureate of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation Arts and Culture Award for Cultural and Outreach Projects.
The Russian Federation Ministry of Defence Arts and Culture Award was founded in 2017 and is given for works of art and creative projects that promote military and patriotic education of citizens of Russia and for valuable contribution to promotion of culture in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The Mariinsky Theatre and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation have been cooperating for many years. The Ministry supports the annual Moscow Easter Festival and helped to implement the projects of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre during the I International Mariinsky Far East Festival.
