In these days of mourning, following the tragedy that unfolded on 3 April in St Petersburg metro, the Mariinsky postpones its entertaining performances.
On 5 April, the Mariinsky II presents the concert version of Requiem by Guiseppe Verdi in lieu of the opera Golden Cockerel by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The Requiem commemorating the victims will be performed by soloists, choir and orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre under Christian Knapp. All the tickets sold are valid.
The premiere of The Newlyweds, opera by Grigory Korchmar, initially scheduled for 5 April at Prokofiev Hall, is postponed to 20 April. All the tickets sold are valid.
The other concerts and productions are in keeping with the playbill.
The Mariinsky Theatre extends its sincere condolences to the victims’ families.
