On 31 December at 12.00 at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre there will be a New Year Concert featuring participants of the XI International Piano Festival.
This unique musical gift on New Year's Eve will be presented to the public by both established performers and the next generation of pianists – Nicholas Angelich, Mira Yevtich, Piers Lane, Pavel Raikerus, Abisal Gergiev, Andrei Gugnin, Arseny Mun, Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev and Ilya Papoyan.
The programme will include works by Frédéric Chopin (Two Nocturnes, Études in A flat major and C minor, Nocturne in F major No 1, Nocturne in F sharp major No 2 and Polonaise in A flat major), Franz Liszt (Petrarch Sonnet 104 from the second volume of the cycle Années de pèlerinage, Étude in F minor from the cycle Études d'exécution transcendante and Hungarian Rhapsody No 2), Johannes Brahms (Intermezzo in E flat major and Intermezzo in B flat minor), Claude Debussy (Ce qu'a vu le vent d'ouest, La Fille aux cheveux de lin, La Danse de Puck and Feux d'artifice) as well as piano works from the cycles Op No 5, 75 and 85 by Jean Sibelius and Sergei Rachmaninoff's Moment musical in B minor.
