Seong-Jin Cho at the International Piano Festival

On 25 and 26 December, in a continuation of the intense programme of the XI International Piano Festival at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre there will be performances by the outstanding young South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho.

On 25 December (20.00) the musician will present a recital. She will perform Alban Berg's Sonata in B minor, Franz Schubert's Sonata No 19 in C minor and Frédéric Chopin's Four Ballades.

On 26 December (19.00) Seong-Jin Cho and the Mariinsky Orchestra will perform under Valery Gergiev. The programme includes Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic suite Schéhérazade and Pyotr Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto 

Seong-Jin Cho has been a prize-winner at several prestigious international competitions: in 2008 he took 1st prize at the VI International Frédéric Chopin Young Pianists' Competition in Moscow, in 2009 he took 1st prize and the Special Prize for his performance of a work by a Japanese composer at the VII International Piano Competition in Hamamatsu (Japan), the youngest winner in the competition's history, in 2011 he took 3rd prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition (Russia) and in 2015 he won the International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
