Young narrators in Sergei Prokofiev's symphonic tale Peter and the Wolf

On 18 December at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre there will be the final concert in the series Peter and the Wolf at the Mariinsky. Together with the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev, Sergei Prokofiev's symphonic tale Peter and the Wolf will be performed by winners of the Mariinsky Theatre's competition of young narrators, marking one hundred and twenty-five years since the birth of Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev.

The lead roles in the tale will be performed by Sergei Golubtsov (Petya), Ivan Chapkevich (the Grandfather), Daniil Silkin (the Wolf), Anna Darman (the Cat), Maria Kasparova (the Bird) and Anna Davletshina (the Duck). Rodion Farrakhov, Kira Khlobystina, Stefan Otto, Valery Furygin, Sergei Basisty, Anna Belousova, Artem Ivanov, Igor Zavgorodny and Makar Dmitriev will appear as the Hunters.

As part of this project, initiated by Valery Gergiev in early 2016, Sergei Prokofiev's symphonic tale Peter and the Wolf has been performed at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre alone more than ten times featuring renowned theatre and film actors. The role of the Narrator has been performed by Yevgeny Mironov, Konstantin Khabensky, Veniamin Smekhov, Mikhail Porechenkov, Mikhail Trukhin, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Kseniya Rappoport, Anton Shagin, Sergei Garmash and Sergei Bezrukov. Konstantin Khabensky also appeared in Kemerova and Vladivostok, and Valery Gergiev himself performed in Oryol, Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Performances of Peter and the Wolf also enjoyed tremendous success on international tours by Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre with stars of stage and screen of the countries where the performances took place.
