Stars of the Mariinsky Theatre to perform in Vladivostok

On 1 and 2 November lead soloists of the Mariinsky Opera, Ballet, Chorus and Orchestra under Valery Gergiev will be appearing at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok.

On 1 November at 19:00 soloists of the Mariinsky Opera and the Orchestra under Valery Gergiev will present Richard Wagner's opera Das Rheingold (concert performance) for the first time in Vladivostok. The lead roles will be performed by Yuri Vorobiev (Wotan), Mikhail Vekua (Loge), Andrei Popov (Mime), Pavel Shmulevich (Fafner), Vadim Kravets (Fasolt), Anna Kiknadze (Fricka), Zlata Bulycheva (Erda) and Oxana Shilova (Freia).

On 2 November at 11:00 at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre there will be the opera gala concert Through the Pages of Great French Operas. The programme includes scenes and arias from the operas Carmen by Georges Bizet, Faust by Charles Gounod, Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns and Les Troyens by Hector Berlioz. The vocal roles will be performed by Mariinsky Theatre soloists Oxana Shilova (soprano), Yulia Matochkina (mezzo-soprano), Mikhail Vekua (tenor), Vladislav Sulimsky (baritone) and Yuri Vorobiev (bass). The concert will feature the chorus of the Mariinsky Theatre Primorsky Stage.

On 2 November at 13:00 Mariinsky Theatre prima ballerina Diana Vishneva will appear at the Primorsky Stage in Georges Bizet – Rodion Shchedrin's ballet Carmen-Suite with choreography by Alberto Alonso. Diana Vishneva's partner will be Mariinsky Theatre soloist Ivan Oskorbin. The performance will feature the ballet company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. This will be Diana Vishneva's second visit to Vladivostok. She first performed at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre together with Vladimir Malakhov – the ballet The Old Man and Me was presented during the I International Far East Festival Mariinsky, which ran from 30 July to 10 August 2016 in Vladivostok and Ussuriysk.

Both performances with the Mariinsky Orchestra will be conducted by Valery Gergiev.
