On 10 August following a press-conference dedicated to the opening of the I Mariinsky International Far East Festival, the Artistic Director of the festival Valery Gergiev and Artistic Director of the PyeongChang Music Festival & School (South Korea) Mrs Myung-Wha Chung signed an agreement on collaboration.
The agreement envisages the active artistic collaboration of the two festivals, exchanges of participants and combined work to advance the popularity of classical art in countries of the Asian-Pacific region. The festival partners also agreed on combining efforts to develop music education. The PyeongChang Music Festival & School is one of the most famous international music festivals. Each year in July and August internationally renowned musicians assemble in a suburb of the South Korean city of PyeongChang to take part in the event.
