Konstantin Khabensky and Veniamin Smekhov at the Concert Hall

On 19 and 26 March at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre there will be further performances of Sergei Prokofiev’s symphonic tale Peter and the Wolf. The role of the Narrator will be performed by Konstantin Khabensky and Veniamin Smekhov.

The performances of Peter and the Wolf form part of the expansive anniversary programme marking one hundred and twenty-five years since the birth of Prokofiev. Throughout 2016 the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev will be performing the symphonic tale on a monthly basis with different soloists as the Narrator, to be selected by audience and social network votes. Young audiences and their parents will have the chance to select heroes from the world of music, theatre, film and sport that they would like to see and hear on the theatre’s stage.

In line with the results of the competition, the next performance of the role of the Narrator will be undertaken by Konstantin Khabensky, who will be appearing on 19 March at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre (11:30 and 14:00). On 26 March the audience will hear the tale performed by Veniamin Smekhov (Concert Hall, 14:00).
