Azari Plisetsky at the Mariinsky Theatre

Azari Plisetsky, a globally renowned expert in ballet training, gives a series of master classes for the Mariinsky Theatre ballet dancers.

Azari Plisetsky began his career at the Bolshoi Theatre. The young dancer who had graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School with honors, was chosen as a partner by the legendary Olga Lepeshinskaya. Working with this outstanding dancer was an invaluable experience for the young artist. Being naturally inclined to getting an appetite for teaching, Azari Plisetsky soon began to share his knowledge and skills with ballet students. His teaching activities brought him to many countries of the world: he has taught in Cuba and in the School of American Ballet, he has also staged performances in Japan, and given lessons for the company of New York City Ballet and the Royal Ballet of Spain. Since 1992 he has been a teacher of Béjart Ballet Lausanne troupe and Rudra dance school founded by Maurice Béjart. A representative of the Russian dance school, who is also knowledgeable about the ballet traditions of many other countries, Azari Plisetsky is a frequent and welcome guest and expert at many international ballet competitions, whose opinion is highly valued by professional all over the world.

The classes of this distinguished teacher will last in the Mariinsky Theatre until June 28.
